Mount Sinai Awarded Top 50 Employer Recognition

October 25, 2006 -- Mount Sinai recently made the list of Top 50 Employers in the Greater Toronto Area. The annual list, conducted by Mediacorp Canada Inc, was published in the October 14 edition of the Toronto Star, and represents the recognition of GTA employer’ efforts in creating a positive and rewarding work environment for their employees.

The 10 categories that were used to assess the hospital’s workplace, and thus eligibility for inclusion on the Top 50 list, were: Physical Environment; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health Benefits: Financial Benefits and Compensation; Family-Friendly Benefits; Vacation Policy & Personal Days-Off; Internal Communications; Performance Management; Continuing Education & Professional Development; and Community Involvement.

Initiatives such as the Wellness@Work program, which includes a new employee rehabilitation and physiotherapy centre, on-site yoga classes, pilates, weight watchers, new fitness centre memberships, a 24-hour child care program, was one of the factors that helped Mount Sinai make the list, as it demonstrated our dedication in improving the well-being of all its employees and physicians.

“Being recognized in this manner is a direct reflection of Mount Sinai’s ongoing commitment to improving the hospital’s work environment and creating an atmosphere that is stimulating, challenging and personally rewarding,” said Joseph Mapa, President and CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital. “I’m confident the changes we’re implementing will help us become even better and lead to more top employer recognitions in the future.”
