$5 million RioCan Investment Will Enhance Patient Experience

February 26, 2014

As one of Toronto’s busiest hospitals, thousands of patients are welcomed into Mount Sinai Hospital’s lobby every year.  As part of the Campaign to Renew Sinai, the largest capital redevelopment project in the hospital’s history, plans for a transformation of the hospital lobby are well underway. Thanks to an extraordinary new investment, the lobby will soon feature a new food experience.

RioCan has generously invested $5 million in the Hospital, specifically to support the creation of a new food court – an important element to the conveniences offered to patients, families and staff.  The new food court will be named the RioCan Food Hall in recognition of this investment. RioCan will also serve as the landlord for the Food Hall.

“The RioCan Food Hall will be an exciting addition to our hospital services,” says Joe Mapa, President and CEO.  “Our lobby is the beginning of the patient experience and we are designing a space that is truly an extension of the incredible, compassionate care that we deliver every day to every patient.  We are incredibly grateful for this investment and are confident that it will help us enhance the overall quality and comfort of the health-care experience at Mount Sinai.”

The new lobby will also include designated areas for Patient Welcome, Patient Education, and Patient Services, a new Wellness Centre, and an expanded Emergency Department. The Campaign to Renew Sinai is a multi-year, multi-million dollar fundraising campaign, designed to fund transformational plans for the hospital’s facilities and growth of its internationally recognized clinical and research programs.
