Performance

For more than 80 years, Mount Sinai Hospital has earned a reputation in the community — and beyond our borders — for providing outstanding Patient and Family-Centred Care.

To provide the highest quality patient care and the safest possible environment, Mount Sinai supports the movement toward more accountability. We believe that a strong connection between public reporting of performance information identifying areas for improvement leads to system-wide benefits and best practices.

Mount Sinai currently reports performance information through our annual report and through the Ontario Wait Times Strategy. The Hospital also uses a Balanced Scorecard to report on several measures, including:

On the following pages you will discover how Mount Sinai is working to enhance the overall patient experience and improve safety.

Understanding Our Indicators

An indicator is a measure hospitals monitor over time to measure how well its services or processes are working.
A performance measure provides Mount Sinai Hospital with evidence of progress towards the goals and objectives of our Strategic Plan, Building on the Best. Using quality and process improvement methods, we monitor where to focus resources to continuously improve clinical care and quality of work-life.
