The largest organization of its kind in North America, the Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary has been dedicated to contributing to the success of Mount Sinai Hospital for over 55 years.
On October 14, 2009, we embarked on a new pledge in support of Mount Sinai Hospital. Focusing on both women’s and infants’ health, the $4.5 million pledge will touch upon each of the Hospital’s pillars – patient care, research and education – providing meaningful and critical support to the Hospital’s efforts and stature as a world leader.
Patient Care – the new pledge will support the Hospital’s technology program through the completion of the Auxiliary’s Advancing E-Meds project which would see electronic patient records and medication orders fully automated first in cardiology and then rolled out in the new women’s and infants’ health inpatient unit.
Research – the new pledge will provide sustainable funding to the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai to support the work of its scientists who investigate the causes of disease, and discover new approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, particularly cancers that affect women.
Education – the new pledge will provide funding to continue the work of a nurse coordinator for Mount Sinai Auxiliary Breast Health Program of the Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre which provides classes to the community at large with a special focus on new immigrants to encourage mammography and self-screening, and also provides classes to recovering breast cancer patients on health, diet and exercise.
The new pledge will also provide financial support to Mount Sinai Hospital’s global outreach through collaborative research and educational initiatives related to women’s health through the Peter A. Silverman Centre for International Health.
