Audiology (Otologic Function Unit)

The Audiology Department of Mount Sinai is a clinical assessment, teaching and research facility associated with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

It includes:

We help people with hearing, balance and/or speech disorders by assessing problems and providing non-medical therapy. Our goals are to minimize the effects of a disorder, or, if possible, help prevent them.

Active clinical research, development and education programs are used to promote the highest possible service standards to patients with potential or actual hearing and speech disorders.

 

Referrals

Hearing and Balance - A physician's referral is needed before seeing one of our specialists in the Hearing and Balance Unit. Download the referral form (45 KB pdf pdf.gif) to take to your family doctor.

Ontario Infant Hearing Program (IHP) - Patients for the IHP must be referred by the IHP coordinator in their region. Find your regional coordinator here.

 

Related Services

Mount Sinai also provides fee-based hearing aid services on site at the Hospital's Hearing Aid Dispensary, located in the Audiology Department. Our audiologists help their patients select and obtain the best device for their needs.

We also work closely with the Speech-Language Pathology lab, and the Department of Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat specialists).
