Dental Department’s Inaugural Continuing Education Symposium a Resounding Success

The dental department held its first continuing education program at the Chestnut Residence and Conference Center on March 31st, 2017.  The program, entitled “Update in Dentistry: What you have always wanted to know about the relationship between dentistry and medicine but were afraid to ask”, was well-attended by over 125 dentists and dental auxiliary. The symposium, was organized by Conference Chairs, Dr. Iona Leong, Head of Division of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, and Dr. Howard Tenenbaum, Dentist-In-Chief, Sinai Health System. The symposium covered commonly encountered medical conditions and newer drugs of relevance to dentists. Experts from the department provided updates in pain management, guidelines for opioid use, temporomandibular disorders and oral cancer screening. There were also small group workshops dedicated to oral pathology, orofacial pain, principles of dental management of medically complex patients.
