Barbara Cruickshank MD, FRCSC

Dr. Cruickshank received her M.D. and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. She subsequently completed training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as a fellow of two international agencies: The Rockefeller Foundation and the Population Council of New York.
During that time she completed three years of postgraduate study involving hormonal and non-hormonal modulation of fertility and clinical postgraduate training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Cruickshank is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Upon completion of her training, Dr. Cruickshank accepted a position with the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Toronto and holds the appointment of Assistant Professor.
Since 1986 she has been actively involved in the clinical practice of reproductive endocrinology and infertility with the Reproductive Biology and IVF Unit previously at The Toronto General Hospital and currently at Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as participating in clinical teaching and research in this area of medicine.
Dr. Cruickshank has also taken an active role in promoting continuous medical education for Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the community through her position on the Executive of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Toronto (S.O.G.T.).
Dr. Cruickshank’s additional interests include:
- The development of umbilical cord blood banking, and
- Stem cell research.
