FAQs about MKUWC

What makes the Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centre (MKUWC) different?
The Centre takes a multidisciplinary approach to men’s health that works in collaboration with other health care providers in Toronto. Importantly, the program blends the essentials of patient care with clinical research to find new ways to diagnose and treat men's health-related issues.

What role does research play at the Centre?
In addition to patient care, our strength is a dedicated focus on research to gain a better understanding of the causes and development of urological conditions and diseases. This integration of research and patient care makes the Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centre the only one of its kind in North America.

Physician Care
You are always encouraged to speak with your physician about any concerns you have about your health. Please note that the physician on-call will address any urgent concerns, post-operative concerns after centre hours.

For reasons of confidentiality, we did not give test results over the telephone or by e-mail. Test results will not be sent to the referring physician until the attending physician at the centre has discussed them with you.

Physicians In-Training:
As we are affiliated with the university, residents from the Urology Training Program of the University of Toronto may be involved in your care. Residents are fully accredited physicians who are studying to become urologists. They work in the clinic on four-month rotations. Residents in-training are always teamed with a staff physician.

Clinical Services
As research is a vital part of health care, you may be informed about and asked to participate in ongoing research projects. All research projects are fully approved by the University of Toronto and our affiliated hospitals.

We also have on-site laboratory services for hormonal testing for both sexes. We work closely with other centres and your referring physician to provide comprehensive urological care.
