If your baby has been admitted to the NICU, we understand that this is a very difficult time for you. Our approach to caring for your newborn baby is based on the family-centred model.
This means that we understand that families who have a baby in the NICU face new issues, emotions and circumstances. All members of our team are concerned with the well-being of your family, in addition to the well-being of your baby.
We hope that the information provided here will help you better understand the care your baby is receiving while at Mount Sinai.
Parent Binders
"Me and My Baby" binder has information for families that is more specific to the smaller baby, a baby who may be in the hospital longer.
"Me and My Baby for Families with Bigger Babies" has information that is more specific to the baby who is born older than 34 weeks gestation.
These binders are given to all parents who have a baby in the NICU. In them, parents will find information to help deal with having a baby in the NICU. The better informed you are, the more comfortable you will be, and have a better understanding of what is happening to your baby in the NICU.
To get more information or to obtain a copy, please speak to your baby's nurse.
