Inpatient Services
These programs support our patients within the hospital.
The consultation-liaison psychiatry program is a specialized service divided into teams with expertise in the major illnesses treated at Mount Sinai Hospital. Our consultation-liaison teams provide assessment and treatment for patients admitted to the hospital under the care of medical, surgical and obstetric services.
The integrated service works at the interface between physical and mental health supporting patients and the clinical teams in areas such as, oncology, cardiology, general internal medicine, specialized surgical services, palliative care, addiction services and across the women’s and infants program.
The inpatient psychiatric unit, 9 South, is a short-term treatment service for patients who require care in the hospital as a result of their mental illness. Individuals, over the age of 18, admitted to this 15 bed unit will receive assessment, treatment/intervention and discharge planning in a protective and therapeutic environment.
The inpatient unit is interprofessional with team members from psychiatry, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, pharmacy and other specialty services, as needed.
Therapeutic interventions may include: psychiatric, psycho-social and functional assessment, medication management, individual therapy, group therapy, mental health education and discharge planning.
Visitors
All visitors must check in with the ward clerk or nurse at the nursing station.
