Mount Sinai Hospital provides care to a large population of patients with cancer of all types. Two of the substantial areas of focus are breast cancer, centered in the Marvelle Koffler Breast Center and sarcoma, or connective tissue cancer.

Dr. Jon Hunter, located in the Marvelle Koffler Center, provides psychiatric consultation to any cancer patient treated at Mount Sinai Hospital, via referral from their treating physician.

Patients may be either in- or out-patients, and an initial assessment provides the basis for designing a person-specific intervention, utilizing psychotherapeutic support, psychotropic medication or referral to other treatment providers as required for the needs of the patient or their family.

Close liaison occurs with the Social Work and Nursing personnel involved in the care of the patient.

Patients receiving cancer care at other institutions may also be assessed, but are referred back to their treatment setting for integrated treatment.
