The Cyril & Dorothy, Joel & Jill Reitman Centre for Alzheimer’s Support and Training

Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias pose significant challenges to the wellbeing and health of family caregivers as they struggle with the great emotional and physical stress caused by these diseases of their loved ones.

The Cyril & Dorothy, Joel & Jill Reitman Centre for Alzheimer’s Support and Training delivers unique, targeted and tailored skill-building interventions that provide family caregivers with the tools and support to manage the care of loved ones with dementia at home.

Services

Services include a fully integrated, comprehensive dementia care program that introduces the innovative use of standardized patients—actors trained to simulate real-life situations—so that caregivers, guided by expert clinical coaches, will learn how to deal with common challenging situations.

At the same time, the program provides state-ofthe-art outpatient services for people with dementia. Reitman Centre
