Chemotherapy Certification Course

The nurses on the Sarcoma Unit who administer chemotherapy have undergone extensive training. Training includes 3 days of theory in a classroom environment, followed by a comprehensive 6-week buddy system orientation, where staff have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a hands-on environment. 

The course includes:

  • knowledge around the different chemotherapy agents;
  • knowledge about the different types of sarcoma.
  • adverse effects of chemotherapy;
  • support and education for the patient; 
  • chemotherapy administration; and
  • education on care for the caregiver.
