We are delighted to have Dr. Dan Kurtycz as our Guest Faculty this year. Dr. Kurtycz is a Professor of Pathology at University of Wisconsin, Madison, Chief of the Section of Cytology at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, and Director of the School of Cytotechnology.

Dr. Kurtycz will be addressing the topics of atypical squamous cells (ASC) and keratinzed cells in Pap smears, and presenting his experience with virtual microscopy in educational programs and proficiency testing.

Other local faculty members are participating, including:

  • Dr. K. Joan Murphy, MD, Associate Professor, J. Douglas Crashley Chair in Gynecologic Oncology Research University of Toronto; Gynecologic Oncologist UHN Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto who will provide a clinical perspective on the management of the woman with ASC.
  • Dr. Golnar Rasty, MD, Associate Professor Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology University of Toronto; Staff Pathologist, Department of Anatomic Pathology, UHN, Toronto who will speak on the role of molecular testing in ASC-US: the HPV and p16 story.
  • Dr. Martin Chang, MD, Assistant Professor Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology University of Toronto; Staff Pathologist, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto who will address the changing role of cytology in breast carcinoma.
