When my family and I moved from Mexico City to Toronto, I knew Mount Sinai offered the educational environment I craved. To help me make the transition, I applied to Ryerson University’s International Trained Dietitians Pre-Registration Program.

To prepare, I shadowed one of Mount Sinai’s clinical dietitians for two weeks. I had the opportunity to learn from a very knowledgeable, kind and supportive dietetic team. It helped me improve my skills and practice in a Canadian health-care centre. I was amazed at the work they were doing at Mount Sinai.

Before coming to Mount Sinai, I had nutritional knowledge, but I needed to learn how to apply my expertise in the Canadian model of care. I owe my success in switching to the Canadian system to the IDPP program, and the incredible guidance I received at Mount Sinai Hospital.
