Services for Staff and Students
Access and Services
The Collection
Access to the library catalogue is:
1) Via the search bar on our Library Website. Refer to our How-To Guides to access full text articles and more, while on-site.
2) Via the HSICT Catalogue. Use the 'Advanced Search' function to limit items to the Sinai Health library collection.
- The library collection includes over 2,000 book titles and 370 journal titles in print. Sinai Health staff and students also have access to over 2,500 electronic journal titles and over 5000 eBooks.
- As Mount Sinai Hospital is a fully affiliated teaching hospital, cross-appointed U of T staff and students additionally have access to thousands of electronic resource titles using their UTORid.

Research Assistance
- All staff and students have free access to medical and health related databases via the Library Website while on-site.
- Consult with information specialists in conducting literature searches and systematic review searches.
- One-on-one or group training sessions on database searching, using citation management software, or finding full text articles.
Borrowing and Renewals
Most library items may be borrowed for a period of two weeks. Renewals may be requested by phone, email, or in person. Students and Fellows must be on rotation a minimum of four weeks at Mount Sinai Hospital in order to borrow items. Hospital ID badges must be presented when borrowing for the first time.
Other Services
- Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Books and journal articles not available in the library may be provided within 2-3 business days (*subject to charges depending on the lending source). Books and journal articles may be requested by following the instructions on our library website. Alternatively you may email us, or call us at (416)-586-4800 x4614.
- 10 Computer workstations with Internet access are available for study and research.
- Photocopying and Printing are available. Fee is 10ยข/page.
