Access and Services
The Collection
Access to the library catalogue is through the University of Toronto Libraries online union catalogue. Using the 'Advanced Search' interface, searches can be limited to the Mount Sinai Hospital collection.
The Sidney Liswood Library collection includes over 3000 book titles and over 500 journal titles in print. MSH staff and students also have access at their destop to over 1,500 electronic journal titles and approximately 60 e-textbooks. As Mount Sinai Hospital is a fully affiliated teaching hospital, cross-appointed staff and UT students additionally have access to thousands of electronic resource titles using their UTORid or their library card and PIN number.
Borrowing and Renewals
Most library items may be be borrowed for a period of two weeks. Renewals may be requested by phone, email or in person. Students and Fellows must be on rotation a minimum of four weeks at Mount Sinai Hospital in order to borrow items. Hospital ID badges must be presented when borrowing for the first time.
Research Assistance
- All staff and students have free access to medical and health related databases via the library Intranet site.
- Library staff will assist users in formulating literature searches, or provide a literature search on a particular topic.
- Those interested in remote access to the databases from home or office should contact the library staff.
- One-on-one or group training sessions on database searching, using citation management software or finding full text articles.

Other Services
- Interlibrary Loan - books and journal articles not available in the library can be provided within 2-3 days for a minimum charge of $3.00 per item. Books and journal articles may be requested using the order forms on the Library Intranet site or by phone, email or in person.
- Borrowing books from University of Toronto Libraries - $3.00 charge.
- 10 Computer Workstations with Internet access are available for study and research.
- Photocopying and Printing is available for .10¢ per page.
