eLearning Centre
Gerald P. Turner Department of Nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital
The eLearning Centre is a flexible, web-based learn-on-demand system that allows nurses to complete required courses and seminars in a way that suits their individual schedules.
Nurses can log in to the Centre any time of the day or night, from work or home. If they're interrupted during a course, the system allows them to return where they left off, even days later.
Courses include:
- Interprofessional Education and Collaboration for Patient and Family Centred-Care
- WHMIS training
- Infection control topics: Hand Hygiene, Chain of Transmission, and Routine Practices (developed by the Ministry of Health)
- Codes training (e.g) Code Red, Code Black
Many courses are offered as blended learning: the first component is completed online, followed by a day for hands-on application of skills. Several of the skills days are conducted in our PREPS simulation lab using advanced patient simulators.
The blended learning courses currently offered include:
- Infusion Therapy and Vascular Access
- Situational Based Patient Assessment
- Wound and Skin Care
- Pain Management
Courses are continuously being expanded to meet the needs of staff.
Accessing the eLearning Centre
If you're a Mount Sinai nurse, log into the eLearning Centre to register and complete online courses or check your training transcripts.
You will need:
- Your Training ID, which is the letters 'msh' followed by your staff ID. For example, if your staff ID is 123456, then your should log on with the Training ID msh123456.
- Your password. If you don’t know your password, please contact your manager.
Problems logging on? Keep in mind:
- Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure that CAPS LOCK is not on when you enter your password.
- All Training IDs begin with the letters msh. Make sure you have the letters msh in your Training ID.
New to Mount Sinai Hospital? It can take up to two weeks for your account to become active. Check back in two weeks or speak to your manager.
