Gerald P. Turner Department of Nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital

The Department of Nursing’s on site learning centre provides more than 1,000 days of education annually to Mount Sinai nurses. Capitalizing on the expertise of an all RN staff, Sinai C.A.R.E. develops and presents quality courses for health professionals.

Through a variety of teaching methods including classroom workshops and blended learning (e.g. online learning followed by hands on application in our simulation lab), our nurses have expressed great satisfaction with these courses and the contribution to nursing knowledge and practice.

Education is offered in the areas of Clinical Practice, Professional Development, Human Resource Development and Resource Utilization and Management.

Many of the courses are taught by Mount Sinai nurses and are offered at no cost to our staff.

Some courses offered include:

  • Infusion Therapy
  • Pain Management
  • Wound and Skin
  • High Risk Obstetrics
  • Leadership Skills for Preceptors
  • Patient and Family-Centred Care

A select number of Sinai C.A.R.E. courses are also available to nurses from other health-care organizations. These courses are delivered by Mount Sinai staff and include:
