Chinese Outreach Program

Mount Sinai Hospital's Chinese Outreach Program, under the Department of Social Work, is designed to help you and your relatives access our hospital's services and to contribute to quality patient care.

The services available include:

  • Social work intervention and counselling services for individuals, couples and families
  • Arranging medical appointments and assisting patients with hospital and clinic registration
  • Helping patients and families access medical and other information
  • Follow-up support for patients when they leave the hospital to go home or placement in another health care facility
  • Making referrals to other community resources and arranging meetings with other health care professionals on behalf of patients
  • Providing health promotion through workshops, health fairs, special community clinics and other projects through community partnerships

Mount Sinai Hospital recognizes the importance of accurate communication between patients, their families and health care providers. We offer our Chinese patients interpreters in Cantonese, Mandarin, and other dialects.

Chinese Food Program

6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
   

Mount Sinai Hospital can provide Chinese meals seven days a week during your hospital stay. Through our partnership with Ellen's Health Food, we ensure that the traditional and authentic foods offered meet the clinical nutrition requirements of our patients. There is no extra charge for this service, but we do need 24 hours notice.
