The Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital and the Ontario Science Centre's Cafe Scientifique present: Why are we so stressed out? (And what can we do about it?)
Stress is a part of daily life, but how much is healthy vs. hazardous? Why is stress so prevalent, what are the warning signs to indicate we’ve had too much, and how can we learn to cope?
Panelists speak to genetic aspects, preventative measures, the use of coping strategies such as mindful meditation, and delve into the cultural ideas about stress in society.
Experts include:
- Dr John Cairney, Senior Research Scientist, CAMH / McMaster Family Medicine Professor of Child Health Research
- Dr. Scott Schieman, Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Toronto
- Dr. Zindel Segal, Morgan Firestone Chair in Psychotherapy at Mount Sinai Hospital / Head, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Clinic, CAMH / Professor of Psychiatry, University of Toronto
Presented with generous support from Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
