Room Choices

Post-partum room choice

Consider what type of room you would like to have following the birth of your baby. All labour rooms are private, and the cost is covered by OHIP. On the post-partum floor, OHIP covers ward rooms (4 people/room). If you would prefer a semi-private (2 people/room) or private room, you can request this on your pre-registration form and/or when you arrive at the hospital in labour. We will do our best to accommodate your request, however there are limited private and semi-private rooms. Many private and company insurance plans will support part or all of the extra cost but may require that you pay the cost or difference in cost up front. You will then need to apply to be reimbursed. Please check with your insurance carrier for the amount you are covered for preferred accommodation.

Mount Sinai Hospital is pleased to offer you various accommodation options for the duration of your stay at the Hospital.

To enhance your comfort, Private and Semi-Private Accommodations are available*.

Most extended health insurance covers all or part of private or semi-private room charges – check with your insurance provider for details.

For more information or to choose your room preference, please call the Accommodations Coordinator at 416.586.4800 ext. 4782 or 4496.

* Final room assignments are based on bed availability and medical necessity. We will make every effort to provide you with the room type that you have requested. You or your insurance company will only be charged based on your final room assignment. Learn more about Room Options by viewing our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ below.
