Room Types

To enhance your comfort, every effort will be made to accommodate your room preference. However, we do not know until the day of admission what type of rooms will be available.

We trust you will appreciate that occasionally we will not be able to provide your requested room preference because of medical requirements of other patients. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

• Private Room: includes one bed, washroom, and a private telephone.
• Semiprivate Room: includes two beds (separated by curtains), washroom, and two telephones (the phone line/number is shared by two patients).
• Ward Room: includes four beds (separated by curtains), washroom, and four telephones (the phone line/number is shared by two patients).
  

Financial responsibility for preferred accommodation (private or semi-private rooms)

The cost of a ward room is covered by OHIP. There is a charge for semi-private rooms (*$260 per day) and private rooms (*360 per day). Usually, some or all of the additional cost for these rooms is covered by private health insurance. Regardless, the Hospital will charge you for the first day of your admission, but you will not be charged for the day of discharge from the Hospital.

Patients with private insurance coverage requesting and receiving preferred accommodation must provide the Hospital with the following information on admission:

• All insurance certificates of coverage
  
• A credit card imprint will be taken to cover those expenses which are not covered by your insurance policy so you should check with your insurance company prior to admission to confirm your specific coverage. (We will not use your credit card imprint unless full payment is not forthcoming from your insurance company.)

Patients without private insurance coverage requesting and receiving preferred accommodation must provide the Hospital with  a credit card (Visa or MasterCard). The Hospital will process your credit card imprint at the time of your admission.
