October 20, 2008 -- For the third consecutive year, Mount Sinai Hospital has been named one of the Greater Toronto Area’s top employers.Toronto’s Top Employers

The annual list, conducted by Mediacorp Canada Inc., was published in the Oct. 18 edition of The Toronto Star.

This year, Mediacorp Canada received a record number of applications, making the decision of selecting the Top 75 Employers even more difficult.

“We are so honoured to be listed as a top employer, and this achievement is a direct reflection of the Bright Minds and Big Hearts that make up the Mount Sinai team,” said Joseph Mapa, President and CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital. “Our ongoing commitment to improving the Hospital’s work environment helps create an atmosphere that is stimulating, challenging and personally rewarding.”

Mediacorp Canada looks at seven key areas in evaluating candidates for top employer, including: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere and Social; Health, Financial and Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; and Training and Skills Development.

In addition to these key areas, the Hospital’s Wellness @ Work program, education assistance, diversity programming and education, and great benefits programs, were all major features that helped Mount Sinai make this year’s list.
