Clinics and Programs
The Department of Dentistry is a multidisciplinary clinic located on the 4th floor of the hospital, as well as programs that are integrated both within its clinics and across other clinical areas such as our Emergency Department.
The Department functions in association with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and several medical programs within Sinai Health. It is the primary site for the Graduate Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and maintains an active Hospital Dental Residency Program for GP dentists.

Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine Clinic
This clinic focuses on the diagnosis and management of oral lesions and other oral diseases, including Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. A multidisciplinary Mouth Clinic is also operated in collaboration with otolaryngology (ENT).

General Dental Care for Medically Complex Patient, including Adults with Disabilities
This clinic helps to break down barriers to dental care for those with physical and cognitive impairment, special health care needs and those who are medically compromised.

Facial Pain Clinic - Temporomandibular Disorder
Designated as a Regional Treatment Centre for Reconstructive Surgery of the Temporomandibular Joint by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, this clinic is associated with the Wasser Pain Management Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Program for Treatment of the Following Conditions: gum recession, implant related disease, and black spaces between teeth
Our newest program, The Centre for Advanced Dental Research and Care, focuses on a variety of dental and oral conditions that are very difficult to treat but not well understood.

New treatments for various oral/dental problems are being developed and used for certain patients being seen in the clinic who have not been responding to routine care.

Emergency Dentistry
Working in Mount Sinai’s Emergency Department, clinicians focus on the management of a wide array of urgent and emergent dental problems ranging from pain and abscess management to treatment of facial fractures.

Advanced Training Program in Craniofacial Pain Management and Temporomandibular Joint Surgery
This is a multidisciplinary educational program that integrates surgical interventional therapies for TMJ disorders along with several areas of pain diagnosis and management in dentistry and medicine. Its comprehensive approach includes dental and medical disciplines such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Geriatric Dentistry, Neurology, Medical Pain Management (new subspecialty of internal medicine), Anaesthesia, Psychiatry, and Physiatry/Rehabilitative Medicine.

Endodontic Surgery
Endodontics is commonly known as "root canal treatment". It is the brand of dentistry that focuses on the morphology, physiology, and pathology of the dental pulp and the issues surrounding the rooth of a tooth. At Mount Sinai, we provide endodontic care for patients when their medical, physical or mental status indicates the need for treatment in a hospital environment.
