Post-Graduate Medical Training

Residency Training/Electives

PLM at Mount Sinai is an affiliated teaching facility with the University of Toronto and participates in the core training of all Laboratory Medicine residents at the Faculty of Medicine, and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology.

All residents are strongly encouraged to participate in provincial, national and international meetings and to submit research articles for publication in professional journals.

In addition to core residency training, PLM can offer specialty training in the areas of:

  • Breast Pathology
  • Cytopathology
  • Electron Microscopy
  • Gastrointestinal Pathology
  • Gynaecological Pathology
  • Head and Neck Pathology
  • Hematopathology
  • Musculoskeletal Pathology
  • Perinatal Pathology


Electives in other areas may also be arranged. Electives are available to residents in Canada and from abroad. Residents interested in an elective with PLM are asked to contact Dr. Aaron Pollett.
