Postpartum Support Group

This group is for women who are at-risk for, or who are currently suffering from, postpartum anxiety and/or depression. This group is for women following delivery and up to one year postpartum.

Patients may bring their baby/babies; however, there is no childcare available during group.

Group Leaders

  • Alisha Ramlogan, RN, MN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Perinatal Mental Health Program, Mount Sinai Hospital

Inclusion Criteria

  • Within one year of postpartum
  • At risk of developing psychiatric problems, with a strong history of mental illness and/ or experiencing anxiety or depression
  • Patient must be 18 years of age or older
  • Patient must have a primary care provider and/or a psychiatrist

Exclusion Criteria

  • Over one year postpartum
  • Younger than 18 years of age

Referrals

We are currently only accepting internal Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) referrals (patients who are being followed by MSH and/or will be delivering at MSH). Please have your health care provider submit a referral to our program.

Referrals should include the following information:

  • Patient’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • OHIP number
  • Telephone number(s)
  • Email
  • Date of delivery
  • Primary care provider and/or psychiatrist

All potential recruits are subsequently contacted by telephone or email in order to clarify the purpose and nature of the group.

The group meets at Mount Sinai Hospital. This is an 8 week-session that requires weekly attendance.
