Medical Humanities Elective

Medical students and residents from various healthcare programs can access guidance around reading, creating writing and research in the humanities. We can also link students to humanities scholars at the University of Toronto.

Narrative Means to Professional Ends

This eight-session elective invites third year medical students to write personal stories embodying the CanMeds roles and the share team in a group.

Training in Narrative-Based Care

The Mount Sinai Psychotherapy Institute offers workshops in therapeutic writing for patients and reflective writing for clinicians.

Our faculty are also available for consultation to other faculties and training programs around portfolio development, faculty development and using writing as a reflective tool.

Mary Seeman Humanities Award

An annual award to encourage creative and scholarly activity in the area of psychiatry and the humanities. The award is open to medical students, residents, fellows, and graduates of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto within three years of completing their training.

Writer in Residence Program

Our Program is partnering with Massey College to allow trainees from medicine, nursing and physiotherapy/occupational therapy to access mentoring from Canadian writers in the College's celebrated Writer in Residence Program. Stay tuned for details on how to apply.
