Ron Ruskin

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Psychiatry and Humanities, Narrative Medicine

Ron Ruskin is staff psychiatrist and Director of the Psychiatric Day Hospital [Three-Day Program] at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Ruskin is on the faculty of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society and Toronto Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and together with Dr. Paula Ravitz coordinates the Psychotherapy Supervisors' Group in the Psychotherapy Program of the Department of Psychiatry. He has participated in research and written articles in the area of psychotherapy supervision, boundary issues, and the impact of patient suicide on psychiatrists and psychiatric trainees as well as co-edited and published a book on psychotherapy supervision. Dr. Ruskin received the Abe Miller Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education and the Allen Tennen Award.  Dr. Ruskin is involved in the area of psychiatry and humanities, applied psychoanalysis, and narrative medicine, and has coordinated the annual day in applied psychoanalysis. Together with Drs. Crawford, Kay, and Peterkin, he edits a journal of the medical humanities, Ars Medica.
