The Early Arthritis Clinic

The Early Arthritis Clinic is an exciting program for patients with new onset inflammatory arthritis in The Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease at Mount Sinai Hospital.

It offers patients with inflammation of the small joints— with a high likelihood of having rheumatoid arthritis — to be seen quickly and receive treatment in a timely fashion. Our goal is to have patients seen within two to four weeks after receiving the initial referral from their physician.

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis are at significant risk of having rapid joint destruction leading to disability and even premature death.

Patients who have developed a new onset of pain and swelling in their joints, along with prolonged morning stiffness, may have early inflammatory arthritis and should see their family doctor. Such patients are eligible to be seen by The Early Arthritis Clinic with a referral from their family physician.
