LSCD Mission

The LSCD aims to provide the highest quality diabetes care through the integration of clinical practice, research and education for individuals with diabetes and their families.As an academic teaching hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto, the LSCD is committed to advancing healthcare through actively promoting continuing education for health care professionals in areas related to diabetes.


Nursing Activities at the LSCD

Our clinical focus is on people with complex diabetes needs:

  • Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes needing more intensive therapy
  • Diabetes and pregnancy: from preconception to pregnancy and postpartum
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Transition program: adolescents/young adults in transition to adult care
  • Insulin Pump therapy
  • Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)


Clinical care:
  • Clinical cross appointment at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto
  • Consultation services (diabetes education): Toronto Rehabilitation Institute
  • Inpatient consultation services (MSH)
