Dr. Carlo AmmendoliaDr. Carlo Ammendolia, D.C., PhD

Dr. Carlo Ammendolia is the Director of the Chiropractic Spine Clinic and the Spinal Stenosis Program at the Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis and Autoimmune Diseases. He is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, the Department of Surgery and the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto. He is a Faculty member of the University of Toronto Spine Program and The Collaborative Program in Musculoskeletal Sciences and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Work and Health. In 2012, Dr. Ammendolia was recipient of the Professorship in Spine Award from the Department of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine. He has been in clinical practice for over 30 years and now combines clinical practice, teaching and research in the area of non-operative treatment of mechanical, degenerative and inflammatory spinal disorders with a special interest in degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis.

Dr. Ammendolia is the author of more than 35 peer-review papers, reviews and book chapters and has been the recipient of the  “Chiropractor of the Year” in 2015 for outstanding contribution to the profession from the Ontario Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Aska AhmedDr. Aksa Ahmed, B.Sc.(Hons), D.C.

Dr. Aksa Ahmed is a Chiropractor at The Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis & Autoimmune Disease and the Research Coordinator for the University of Toronto’s Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Study at Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree with Honours at the University of Toronto, specializing in Biochemistry and Human Biology, and graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with Clinic Honours in 2015. Dr. Ahmed is a diversified practitioner and is also certified in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University.

Dr. Ahmed is passionate about leading a healthy and active lifestyle. She is strongly committed to providing exceptional patient-centered, high quality healthcare using a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach. Dr. Ahmed keeps up-to-date with current literature and incorporates evidence-based chiropractic care in her practice.

Jennifer BeasleyJennifer Beasley

Jennifer is a Registered Massage Therapist. She graduated from the Massage Therapy Diploma program at Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic, having previously obtained an honours B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Jennifer has successfully treated a broad range of patients and conditions: from long-haul truck drivers who have dense back fascia and short hip flexors, to neurosurgeons who experience tension from using machinery with precise repetitive motions, those with computer desk jobs who suffer from Carpal Tunnel or Thoracic Outlet symptoms, weekend warriors recovering from sports injuries, and those whose life stress is manifesting in physical terms.

In addition to musculoskeletal disorders, Jennifer has specific massage training related to high risk pregnancy, scar mobilization post breast surgery, central nervous system disorders such as Parkinson’s and strokes, and providing relief to those undergoing medical treatment for malignancies.

Donna Bielawski, BScPT, MSc

Donna holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario. Her clinical experience includes many years in Outpatient Orthopaedics in the Rehabilitation Department and also in the Wasser Pain Management Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Donna has a special interest in head and neck disorders particularly disorders of the temporomandibular (TMJ) or jaw joint/muscles. She completed a Master of Science from the Faculty of Dentistry Department from the University of Toronto in 2009. She focuses on manual therapy techniques and exercise based strategies in the treatment of these disorders. She is a registered member of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Donna is dedicated to ongoing professional development and continually pursues continuing education course/conferences and current research to improve her knowledge base.

Adriana BiernatAdriana Biernat, MScPT

Adriana graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in 2008. To date, she has completed continuing education courses with the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute and has finished her Manual Therapy Level 3's with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopeadic Division. Adriana has training in anatomical acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada.

Outside of work hours she has been an integral part of a few medical coverage teams, recently being the 2015 Pan Am games. Adriana has also volunteered for Skate Canada medical coverage team for the International Figure Skating Championships in 2011 and the World Figure Skating Championships in 2013. Adriana has worked with the London Beefeater football team, providing medical coverage during the games. She has coached and trained high school volleyball, soccer and track teams. She has been involved with running pool specific therapy programs for clients of all ages and has worked with sports teams by using specific plyometric training.

Adriana enjoys working with clients and athletes with various levels of function and skill sets by providing manual therapy with the combination of exercise prescription to help achieve the best return to health. She hopes to advance her practice by continuing to partake in continuing educational courses.

Annette Broderick-ColomboAnnette Broderick-Colombo, RMT

Annette is a Registered Massage Therapist and active member of the Ontario Massage Therapist Association. She is a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic in Toronto. Annette focuses on relieving pain, discomfort and decreasing tension by taking the time to assess the needs, objectives and specific concerns of her clients. She integrates traditional Swedish massage with trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, joint mobilizations and advanced myofascial release techniques for repetitive strain injuries, compression syndromes and soft tissue trauma.

Annette has experience working with clients with sports injuries, pregnancy related discomforts, fibromyalgia, overuse injuries, post cancer surgery and a variety of other musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Davor CepoDr. Davor Cepo, D.C.

Dr. Cepo, a graduate of McMaster University and New York Chiropractic College, is a consultant at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Rehab and Wellbeing Centre. He integrates his unique experiences as a former Olympic and Canadian National soccer team member to assist individuals and athletes of various abilities with their injury recovery and performance goals. Dr. Cepo has worked with world class athletes internationally at the World Track and Field Championships in Budapest 2004, and with professionals in NHL, CFL, MLS, and Toronto’s dance, theatre and film industries. He is a Rehab Specialty Fellowship candidate and is a clinical instructor for the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University.

Adam ChenAdam Chen, R.TCMP, R.Ac, Ph.D.

One of Canada’s leading acupuncture specialists, Adam Chen is the founder of the acupuncture clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital. Mr. Chen’s clinical work focuses on pain management and women’s health issues and has been frequently called upon by government agencies to provide expertise on Traditional Chinese Medicine. His pioneer work of introducing acupuncture into Canadian hospitals have been featured in variety of media outlets.

Dr. Glenn CopelandGlenn Copeland, D.P.M. (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine)

Glenn H. Copeland is one of North America’s leading Podiatrists in active practice for more than 35 years. He has worked with Mount Sinai’s Sports Clinic for more than 25 years and is currently the Medical Director for the Rehab and Wellbeing Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He is a best selling author and has published 5 books in 12 languages including “The Foot Doctor”. He has worked extensively with many professional athletes including Major League Baseball players and has been the Podiatrist for the Toronto Blue Jays since 1979. Glenn has founded and served as Chief Executive Officer for many successful companies including: Feet First (1982 – 1989), Footmaxx International where he also sat on the Board as Chairman (1991 -2000) and Cleveland Clinic Canada (2004 to 2008). Currently he is the consulting Podiatrist and Strategic Advisor to the award winning Canyon Ranch Health Resort (Since 2007).

Allen EshmoiliAllen Eshmoili

Allen is a graduate of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He holds a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy and has received numerous academic and professional awards. Allen’s clinical interests are in orthopedic and sports injuries with a special interest in low back and neck disorders. His individually-tailored treatment style is eclectic, favouring a variety of evidence-based manual skills and exercise-based treatments. He is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute International, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner. Allen has presented at several local and national conferences, authored articles about physiotherapy practice, taught in clinical and academic settings and has a published peer-reviewed case study about the importance of conducting a thorough examination prior to treatment.


Desmond FungDesmond Fung, RPT, MSc.PT, H.BSc, CCAMA

Desmond holds a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, which he earned following his Bachelor of Science with Honors from McMaster University. At the University of Toronto, he was awarded with the Physiotherapy of Canada Research Award for outstanding research in the field of physical therapy. His research was presented at the Ontario Physiotherapy Association Conference (2009) and at the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Congress (2009). Desmond is also certified in medical acupuncture from McMaster University. In addition, he is also a Functional Movement System (FMS) Certified professional. He has taken numerous continuing education courses expanding his evidence-based techniques to efficiently treat his clients, helping them regain optimal health.

He has treated a wide range of clients, ranging from general orthopedic and neurological patients to OFSAA, CIS, NCAA and Team Canada athletes. Despite what your goal is, Desmond will help you achieve it through optimal, evidence-based therapy.

Dr. Melissa GivelosDr. Melissa Givelos, DC

Dr. Givelos completed her Bachelor of Science degree with Honours at the University of Toronto, specializing in Human Biology, and graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with Honours in 2010. As a Functional Integrative Therapy provider, Dr. Givelos combines the various skills attained through her education and experience. As a chiropractor, A.R.T. and medical acupuncture provider, she has treated various athletes at a varsity and a professional level. She uses the F.I.T. approach with the goal of increasing function and reducing pain of her patients, who may need help with their sport or general activities of daily living. Dr. Givelos is currently an Instructor-In-Training with the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University.


Elysa Graci

Elysa Graci, CAT (C) 
Elysa Graci is our very own Certified Athletic Therapist who works out of the Mount Sinai Fitness Centre. She is a competitive long distance runner who has run the Boston Marathon twice and has a current personal best of 3 hours and 5 minutes. Other than that she enjoys swimming, strength training and yoga. An Athletic Therapist is trained to assess, treat, and prevent both chronic and acute athletic injuries. Elysa works one on one with patients by detecting muscle imbalances and by helping them strengthen specific muscles in order to reduce and get rid of their pain. Her customized strength programs are aimed at very gradually and progressively bringing a patient or client back to doing the activities they once enjoyed, pain-free. She works with people of all fitness levels from competitive runners to the hard-working hospital staff. Whether your goal is to become a faster runner, correct your posture, become less reliant on a cane or walker, or to just become a stronger individual, Elysa will help you get there. Elysa firmly believes that resistance exericse will permanently reduce musculoskeletal pain and prevent future injuries, and that everyone at all ages and fitness levels should incorporate strength training in their lives. 


Joelle KaramJoelle Karam MScPT, BHsc (Hons)

Joelle Karam graduated with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Prior to her Masters she received an Honours Degree in the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program from McMaster University. Further, she is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner. Joelle holds an executive position in the Canadian Contemporary Acupuncture Association and in the Ontario Section of the Orthopaedic Division of the CPA.

Joelle's passion lies in helping individuals regain and pursue an active and healthy lifestyle. Through extensive continuing education and experience she can offer a combination of treatment techniques to assist individuals in meeting their goals. She specializes in core stability training, medical acupuncture, manual therapy and functional strength training. She believes that the human body is complex and each individual is unique. Goals for treatment are tailored to the person, functional based and aims to optimize the body to work at its maximum potential. 

Joelle leads an active lifestyle and has a strong interest in nutrition. She truly believes that overall health and wellness requires a balance of all aspects of life, from the inside out. 



Anne KingAnne King, RMT

Anne graduated from Sutherland Chan School of Massage Therapy in 2012, winning the award for the highest academic and clinical achievement in her graduating class.  Some of her outreach experience includes treating patients at Toronto General Hospital, Lyndhurst Spinal Cord Rehab Hospital and high risk obstetrics at Sunnybrook Hospital.  Anne has an extensive health and fitness background both as a fitness instructor and as an internationally ranked competitive athlete, both in sport aerobics and dragon boat racing.

Dr. Evelyn LockDr. Evelyn Lock

Dr. Evelyn Lock is a Chiropractor and Kinesiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Rehab & Wellbeing Centre. She is a certified Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Provider (McMaster University). Her practice is a reflection of her background in competitive sports (swimming and dance), Brain Injury & Neurological Rehabilitation, and years of working in a busy Orthodontic office. She has a special clinical focus on the treatment of Sports Injuries, Chronic Pain, Neurological Disorders, and Craniofacial / Jaw Pain.

Dr. Lock’s drive for patient-centred care is inspired by her patients: from recreational to professional athletes, to those that have endured disabling injuries, to those that need to be healthy to provide for their families, students, or community, those injured in combat or in post- surgical pain, to those that want to learn to better move, breathe, sleep, and be healthier.

Recognizing that each person has unique needs and concerns, Dr. Lock creates a specific and personalized treatment plan to meet the individualized goals of each patient. She applies varied techniques to help patients return to functional goals including neuro-functional approaches, acupuncture, manual therapy, corrective exercise prescription, movement therapy, sensory/tactile discrimination, habituation, breathing control, and lifestyle changes.

Dr. Lock is the Head of the Musculoskeletal Division with Bridge to Health | Medical and Dental. This organization brings a mutli-disciplinary health care team to East Africa to work with on-the-ground NGOs to provide sustainable health care programs, clinical and public health education, and patient care to over 10,000 patients during each outreach brigade. Having experienced how well an integrated health team can service patients abroad, Dr. Lock is committed to working in collaboration with her patients, and their health care practitioners to together meet patient goals here at home.

Devon PeartDevon Peart, MHSc., RD

Devon Peart is a registered dietitian and nutritionist who is dedicated to helping her patients live their healthiest lives. She takes a holistic approach to patient care, and has a particular interest in gut health, anti-inflammatory foods, sport nutrition and healthy weight maintenance.

Devon’s focus on health and wellness began in her teens when she developed an interest in fitness. She decided to turn her passion for healthy living into a career and obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science from Ryerson University before going on to complete her Master of Health Science at the University of Toronto. Eager to give back to the nutrition community, she co-founded the Durham Region Registered Dietitians Action Group. She is on Professional Advisory Committees for the George Brown College and Centennial College culinary programs and has acted as a mentor at the University of Toronto’s Department of Nutritional Sciences, and a teacher mentor at Humber College, where she taught for several years. Devon also writes about nutrition and health for Huffington Post Canada.

Devon believes that there is not one “right” way to eat. The key is to enjoy a wide variety of wholesome foods that are minimally processed. She is inspired by people of all different abilities, body types and ages who are redefining healthy living and pushing boundaries of age, gender and ability.

When she’s not working, Devon enjoys yoga, strength training, literary fiction, movies and spending time with her three sons.

Timothy PoonTimothy Poon

Timothy Poon is a trained singer and speech language pathologist (SLP) specializing in the assessment and treatment of the human voice. For more than a decade he has vocally cared for a diverse group of people including teachers, business people, lawyers, religious leaders, reporters, professional comedians, singers and actors, some of whom have appeared on national television and the Broadway stage.

Timothy received both his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (with Honour Standing) and his Master of Health Science from the University of Toronto. He is a member of the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). His diverse educational background enables him to comfortably draw upon techniques from the singing studio as well as evidence-based therapies from the speech language pathology lab, resulting in therapy that combines the best elements of art and science, tailored for the individual.

Timothy remains active musically. In 2012 he co-founded the progressive bluegrass group Among What Rushes.

Dr. Michael PrebegDr. Michael Prebeg, DC

Dr. Michael Prebeg is a chiropractor who specializes in the treatment of sports injuries. Through the combination of Active Release Techniques (ART) and Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, and joint manipulation he has helped athletes of all levels with injury recovery and in performance enhancement and is currently a consultant with many Olympic and professional athletes (MLBA, NHL, NFL, CFL). He has covered the World Track and Field Championships in Edmonton 2001, and Paris 2003, Goodwill Games 2001, World Cup of Track and Field 2002, US National Championships outdoor and indoor 2002, 2003, NCAA Track and Field Championships 2003, and the World Basketball Championships. He is a Senior Instructor in the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University and is the Treasurer of the Canadian Contemporary Acupuncture Association.

Elizabeth Roberts, SLPElizabeth Roberts, SLP, BSc. (Hon), MHSc

Elizabeth Roberts is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). She completed her Masters of Health Science in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Toronto and holds a BSc. (Honours) in Biopharmaceutical Science from the University of Ottawa.

Throughout the course of her career, Elizabeth has gained practical experience in both hospital and clinical rehabilitation settings where she has provided adult-focused assessment and intervention in the areas of voice, fluency, accent modification, neurogenic speech and language and social communication.

Elizabeth is a firm believer that collaboration is the key to client success. She enjoys working closely with her clients and their health care providers to develop functional goals and individualized therapy plans. She continually strives to create a safe, inclusive environment where clients feel comfortable and empowered.

SHABDIT (SHAB) SHAHShabdit (Shab) Shah, BSc.Kin(Hon), MSc(PT)

Shab grew up playing every sport imaginable, and through various injuries in his youth was exposed to physiotherapy from a young age. It was only fitting then that after completing his Honours Kinesiology degree from the University of Waterloo he chose to pursue a career in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto.

Shab’s clinical experience spans across the physiotherapy spectrum, with placements in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, working in outpatient orthopaedics, to completing his Master’s degree working in the field of vestibular rehabilitation at the Hertz Multidisciplinary Neurotology clinic at Toronto General Hospital.

In addition to his schooling, Shab has obtained his sport and k-taping certification and has completed level 1 of the FCAMPT certification process. Armed with the latest research and education, he is planning to continue his learning through completing courses in medical acupuncture and vestibular rehabilitation.

In his spare time, Shab loves to stay active. He is an avid baseball and volleyball player, and is also a travel-junkie – he’s visited 10 different countries over a span of 5 years, with highlights being a 5 day trek through the Andes and camping in the Swiss Alps.

Dr. Sonia Singh

Dr. Singh is a registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and works with children, adolescents, adults and families. With over a decade of professional experience providing outreach, consultation, program development, assessment, and treatment for individuals across the lifespan in hospital, community, and private healthcare settings in North America, Dr. Singh has acquired a broad range of knowledge and clinical skill in treating mental health difficulties that affect work-life balance and mind-body wellness.

Essential to Dr. Singh’s practice is her belief in collaborating with her patients to address the whole person in care, and drawing on culturally sensitive integrative health expertise to help her patients design and live powerful lives. Interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, physical injuries, chronic pain and illness, school and work stress, professional and corporate issues, mood, anxiety, adjustment, trauma, and acculturation issues are among the range of problems she assesses and treats. Dr. Singh provides clinical supervision to students and psychologists in training, consultation to corporations on workplace mental health, outreach to ethnocultural groups on mental health awareness and promotion, and is regularly involved in program development aimed at addressing community needs.

Daniel SniderDaniel Snider, BAHSc(AT), R.Kin, CAT(C)

Daniel completed his Bachelors of Kinesiology and Philosophy (2003) at the University of Western Ontario. In 2008, he graduated with Honours from Sheridan College with a Bachelors of Applied Health Science in Athletic Therapy. Daniel is currently studying at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

Daniel uses a holistic approach to patient rehabilitation using a combination of manual therapy and customized exercise programs. His treatment skills include myofascial techniques, craniosacral, muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, and visceral treatment. Daniel does all forms of athletic taping including kinesiotaping. He has been a long-time provider for custom knee braces and OTC brace and rehab products. Daniel works with patients of all ages and fitness backgrounds for treatments including protocols for pre-op and post-op orthopaedic surgeries.

Daniel is proud to be the team Athletic Therapist for the York Simcoe Express Bantam Hockey Team. He also currently works with Toronto Skillz Soccer Academy and S.A.A.C. Soccer. Daniel has provided medical coverage for Oakville Soccer Club, OWHA Hockey, Skate Canada, Burlington Braves and Stampeders Football as well as Phil Esposito Fantasy Hockey Camp, Johnson & Johnson International Cup Hockey Tournament, and Canadian Wheelchair Rugby Championship.

Melanie TapsonMelanie Moore Tapson, BFA, BEd, MSc, SLP (C) CCC-SLP Reg CASLPO

Melanie is a professional singer, Singing Voice Specialist, and speech-language pathologist (SLP) whose practice focuses on voice assessment and therapy for professional voice users and performers, as well as transgender voice and communication training. She obtained a fine arts degree in jazz performance (voice), an education degree in senior level vocal music and drama, and a Master of Science in SLP (with a lot of performing and practising in between!). Melanie maintains a variety of professional designations and holds a Certificate in Performing Arts Health from the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Melanie is invested in staying on top of current trends in both research and therapeutic interventions in voice care. She routinely participates in continuing education events to both broaden and deepen her knowledge and skills in voice and voice disorders. She is a very active member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA), the Pan-American Vocology Association (PAVA), Vocology in Practice (ViP), the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists’ (OSLA), and the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), among others. Melanie is often called upon to lecture and give workshops on a variety of voice-related topics, from guest lecturing in graduate university programs such at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and the York University Faculty of Fine Arts, to hands-on educational events for fellow SLPs, voice teachers, and singers alike.

Melanie is passionate about all things voice. She remains active as a professional voice user herself through singing in musical theatre productions and doing voiceover work.

Kathryn Zbarsky Kathryn Zbarsky, BSc, MScPt registered physiotherapist, Strength & Conditioning Specialist

Kathryn earned her Masters degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto in 2009 after first earning her Bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a specialization in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Concordia University in 2005. She is a registered Physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Kathryn is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and currently working on her manual and manipulative therapy- level 2 and Acupuncture certifications. Kathryn also has training and accreditation in core stability, neuro-developmental techniques, Kinesiotaping, and advanced exercise techniques. She emphatically incorporates exercise prescription and health education into her practice to maximize her patients health goals and recovery times. She is committed to continuing education, and holds her status appointment with The University of Toronto.

In addition to her work in adult orthopaedics, Kathryn holds advanced training in paediatric rehabilitation and continues to work at the Hospital for Sick Children where she practices in paediatric oncology as well as the Sick Kids Obesity Team (STOMP) . Along with her experience and education, Kathryn brings with her a deep sense of compassion and understanding to all of her patients.

Kathryn is passionate about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and participates in a variety of fitness activities including running, cycling/spinning, pilates and yoga. She also has a strong interest in nutrition.
