Palliative Care

support.jpgThe Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care provides palliative care to those who are living with or dying from an advanced progressive illness.

Whether in home or in the hospital, our team works with your family doctor and other members of your health care team to provide the best possible end-of-life care.

Palliative care:
  • aims to relieve pain and suffering and generally improve quality of life;
  • is appropriate for anyone living with advanced illness, at any time, regardless of diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment;
  • is provided by an interdisciplinary team of caregivers who work together to address your physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

The Home Care Program doctors provide specialized care to you in the comfort of your own home. A doctor is available for urgent issues 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

If you are admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital, the Inpatient Program offers palliative consultations with a palliative care doctor for the duration of your stay at the Hospital.

Specially trained palliative care nurses, social workers and chaplains are also available. If you are discharged from the Hospital, and are returning to your home in Toronto, North York, York or East York, you may ask to be followed by our Home Care Program.

All doctor visits are covered by OHIP.
