Volunteer Services

The Hospital depends on hundreds of volunteers to support our patients, their families and our staff. More than 800 volunteers contribute over 120,000 hours annually.

Volunteers can be found in more than 125 areas of the hospital, providing comfort and care to patients and support to professional staff, enhancing their ability to provide the best medicine. They also bring the caring of the community into the hospital, and encourage future health care practitioners.

Regardless of how you volunteer with Mount Sinai Hospital, we work hard to make it a rewarding experience for you.

Mount Sinai's Award Winning Work Environment

Mount Sinai Hospital was built on the principles of respect and equality.  That legacy continues today with our commitment to health equity and to providing exceptional care that is accessible to all members of our community.  Everyone who works here is committed and qualified to provide excellent care.

At Mount Sinai Hospital, we foster a healthy and positive work environment that respects the dignity and diversity of each member of the community.  Any form of discrimination, harassment or violence is unacceptable and is not tolerated.  Every patient, visitor and staff member at the Hospital is protected under our Human Rights and Health Equity, and Workplace Violence Prevention policies.

We also support a barrier-free workplace supported by the hospital’s Accessibility Plan, Accommodation and Disability Management Policies and Procedures.  In addition, we are a scent sensitive environment and all members of the community are expected to refrain from wearing and/or using scented products while working or visiting the hospital.

Everyone at Mount Sinai Hospital deserves to be treated with respect.  You deserve it.  So does everyone who works here.  You will be expected to review and become familiar with all related policies as part of your onboarding process so that we all will continue to make a positive contribution in a manner that is inclusive, healthy and accommodating of each other.
