The Kimel Schatzky Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mount Sinai hospital cares for critically ill patients who need close observation and the highest level of specialized medical care. 

Our patient-centred unit was designed to optimize the delivery of outstanding, life-changing care in a safe and comfortable environment. We adhere to leading infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards to prevent or reduce the risk of infection to patients, visitors and care teams. 

Mount Sinai‚Äôs state-of-the-art ICU features: 

  • An innovative pod-based design that brings care teams closer to patients and each other, allowing teams to more efficiently provide care
  • Advanced technology to provide best-in-class care and monitoring for our patients
  • Large windows providing natural light to enhance the well-being of patients, staff and visitors
  • A negative pressure pod to reduce the transmission of airborne infections, as well as six isolation rooms 
  • A lounge, kitchenette, shower and quiet rooms for consultation and support, for use by families and caregivers

We train future leaders in critical care medicine and conduct research that helps us make new discoveries and provide innovative patient care in our leading-edge education/skills lab.
