Health Provider Education

MSAFHT is a teaching centre affiliated with the Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto. Our team members mentor students from a variety of health professional and health administration programs. Our teaching actively involves all trainees in the delivery of high quality patient care.

Family Medicine Residency Training

Our unit specializes in training new family physicians (residents) and medical students specializing in Family Medicine. Family Medicine residents provide ongoing care to their assigned patients throughout their training. As part of our resident teaching program, patient visits with residents may be monitored through the real-time observation by video camera of a supervising physician.

If you are a patient of a resident’s practice, the resident physician will be your primary physician during their two-year residency. When your resident leaves, your care will be transferred to a new resident.
