Sarcoma Support Groups

There are two support groups that are run by the Sarcoma Team.The groups allow for opportunities for patients/caregivers at all different stages of treatment/survival to interact with one another and provide mutual support.The groups focus on coping skills/strategies and providing hope.


Sarcoma Patient Support

The patient support group meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The location of the meeting is usually in Maria’s room on 11 South, however please check with the unit clerk to confirm location on the meeting day.


Caregiver Support

The caregiver support group meets every 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The location of the meeting is usually in Maria’s room on 11 South, however please check with the unit clerk to confirm location on the meeting day.


Look Good Feel Better Program

Look Good Feel Better Program (LGFB) is a national public service program sponsored by companies of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association. The program provides information for women on cosmetic application and hair alternatives to help them cope with some of the side effects of cancer and its treatment.

At Mount Sinai Hospital, LGFB workshops are held regularly. See workshop dates now. For information or registration call 416-586-4800, ext. 8757.

There is also a program especially designed for teens which is offered at Princess Margaret Hospital, located at 610 University Avenue. This program runs every 1st Wednesday of the month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. To register for the teen workshop please call 416-946-2075.

Wellsprings

Wellsprings is a network centre that provides emotional and psychological support free of charge to individuals and families living with cancer. This group provides a wide variety of support programs. Healing Journey Program

The healing journey program is offered at Princess Margaret Hospital located at 610 University Avenue. It is a progressive, stepwise group psychotherapy program for cancer patients interested in doing more to help themselves, in addition to conventional medical treatment.
