Taking Charge: Healthy Lifestyle Choices after Breast Cancer (currently given virtually using Zoom)
The goal is to educate women about a healthier diet and physical activity choices that will have a positive influence on their overall health and may decrease the risk of a recurrence.
Research suggests dietary change and physical activity, in association with weight loss, may reduce risk of recurrence. It also improves overall health - an important consideration given the long survival of many women with breast cancer.
Program staff include:
- Linda Muraca, nurse clinician, the program coordinator who currently offers a breast health program for well women;
- Janet Greenglass-Kosky, B.A., B.A.A. nutritionist, who presents nutritional strategies;
- Lee Scott, B.A.Sc., M.A., the founder of Wow Power Walking. Lee has been certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer and Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant. She is also certified by Can-Fit-Pro as a Fitness Instructor Specialist.
- Geremy Capone, wellness chef ELLICSR , University Health Network
These sessions will occur virtually using Zoom telehealth which has been approved by the hospital. To join you will need an electronic device preferably with a camera and microphone. There are 5 sessions given every 2 weeks and they are two hours in length.
