What to Expect

What to expect during your first appointment

  • You will be assessed by a resident or Fellow (physicians completing a specialization) who will review your history and do a brief medical exam.
  • The surgeon will make an assessment based on the information provided by your doctor, the information taken by the resident or fellow, and a review of your CT scan.
  • You will meet with the surgeon, discuss treatment options and create your individual plan of care.
  • You will meet the nurse clinical coordinator who will review the plan with you and answer any questions you may have.
  • You may also meet the research coordinator who will discuss research opportunities with you.

What to bring

  • We require that all patients bring their imaging on CD to their appointment
  • A notepad and pen come in handy to help you remember everything your health care team tells you
  • During the visit, you may have some waiting time. You are welcomed to bring something to pass time, like a book or tablet with headphones.
  • Please feel free to bring a support person with you, especially if it is a visit when you anticipate getting new information.
