Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic

Your child will have a detailed assessment of their growth, feeding and development.

The Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic provides families with a developmental assessment of their High Risk Infant(s) who received their care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital. The clinic provides services to premature infants (<30 weeks or <1250 g) or infants who have a specific condition that is identified as being at-risk for delays in development.

The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with appointments between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • Regular assessments at 4, 8, 12, 18 and 36 months of development of gross motor (large muscle) skills, fine motor (hand) skills, language skills (receptive and expressive) and cognition skills (play and learning). We also monitor vision, hearing and feeding as the child grows.

  • Timely referral for appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic services when impairments are suspected or diagnosed.
  • Provide feedback and quality assurance to the neonatal and obstetric staff at the hospital.
