Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre (IBDC)

Mount Sinai Hospital is a world leader in the medical and surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

Two psychiatrists work closely with the IBDC to provide a range of educational, assessment and treatment services:

Dr. Ellen Margolese provides psychiatric care for patients while they are in hospital for medical or surgical treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Outpatient assessment of psychiatric concerns is arranged by referral and provides treatment advice to the referring physician.

Dr. Bob Maunder provides outpatient psychiatric consultation, and educational outreach to professional and community groups.

Other Gastrointestinal Disorders

Doctors Margolese and Maunder provide outpatient assessment and inpatient care for patients receiving treatment for Hepatitis C, gastrointestinal cancer and irritable bowel disorder on referral from the treating physician.
