Managing Depression

It is normal to feel many emotions - including feeling sad - when you are living with a cancer diagnosis. If your sadness doesn’t go away for weeks or months or stops you from enjoying usual activities, it may be time to reach out for help. Depression not only affects your quality of life but can make it harder to cope with your cancer symptoms and treatment. Your health care team includes experts in emotional care who are here.

The experts at Cancer Care Ontario have created a guide for people who have depression before, during or after cancer treatment. It can be used by patients, their family, friends or caregivers as a good starting place to learn more. It does not replace advice from your health care team.
